61: Orkney >>>FOTOS<<<
NORDIC PRINCE
The treasures of the Orkney Islands are not hidden - they lie open and you will be touched by them! There is a peaceful beauty all around: wide, green land with its lovely inhabitants - the woolen sheep (and they have alwasy a friendly smile for you); an ancient breathe which catches you everywhere and make you climb on it, too (yes, we did it - every stone of the Ring of Brodgar was ours!); the wild sea and its leaking and forming power; the rough coastline with its stunning characters as the "Old Man of Hoy"; the sunken ships which tell you about former days and let your thoughts dive into the blue water; the sandy beaches which give you the easy feeling of the south and want you to hop around in your bikini (we could resist!).
Everywhere you look, everywhere you go there is calm, natural beatuy and energy and so we felt very free and balanced when we drove and walked on this wonderful island and with our unbelieveable friendly and generous hosts. It was just great to be at your place, Gareth, and our thanks reach the sky and even the stars to fall down on you as a cosy blanket. THANK YOU SO MUCH. And, this is for MUM only: it was a big surprise and pleasure to get your letter & poster!!! :-) The Orkney Landscape is already decorating our kitchen wall!
As a final word I want to say that the sun was very good to us - she did accompany us almost all the time. But there is one thing I feel sorry about: we weren't lucky to see a whale. Instead we came very close to the lovely puffins, we met seals and when we left Aberdeen by ferry playful dolphins jumped around to say a very special Good Bye. So, there is nothing to complain about, just enjoyable memories! And - killer whales - let me tell you - I'll see you one day!
